African Union strengthens collaboration with RECs
Three pilot projects were identified to evaluate a proposal of results-oriented framework for collaboration between the African Union and the RECs. If the outcome of this test is successful, the African Union will have made a major step forward in its efforts to re-examine its structure to produce more impacts on the continent.
The Young Professionals Program (YPP), the Boosting intra-African Trade Initiative (BIAT) and the CAADP - Women's Advancement through Mechanized Agriculture Project were selected to ensure that the new approaches for collaboration between African Union and RECs are relevant. These three projects target areas of high priority to IDA and are topics for which the AU and RECs share common interests.
Through this work, the African Union and the RECs aspire to share the same ambitions and priorities; Jointly planning and mobilizing their resources; Commonly reinforce their capacity and identify the different processes that are useful to them; Clarify responsibilities and facilitate good crops and practices; And ultimately be more effective in their meetings, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.
