Purpose
In 2063, Africa envisioned itself as an "integrated, prosperous and peaceful continent, governed by its own citizens and a dynamic force on the international scene". To achieve this, it needs a leverage to attain the desired transformation.
Aware of the crucial role it should play in achieving this aspiration, the African Union, with the support of the World Bank, has launched the capacity building project of the institution so that it can better serve the continent's citizen. On August 8, 2014, an IDA grant worth $ 25 million was signed to carry out the necessary reforms within the institution.
Improvement of staff skills, functioning and structure of the institution, collaboration between the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities, upgrading of the IT solutions used, and elevation of the planning system as well as the quality of services offered are among the many areas in which the project operates.
